กวิตา วัฒนะชยังกูร เกิดที่ กรุงเทพฯ จบการศึกษาจาก RMIT University (BA, Fine Art) ประเทศออสเตรเลีย ในปี พ.ศ. 2554 เธอเป็นที่รู้จักจากผลงานวิดีโอและศิลปะแสดงสด ที่ถ่ายทอดภาพการแสดงโดยใช้ร่างกายของตัวเธอเองประกอบกิจกรรมพิสดารเพื่อเลียนแบบเครื่องมือเครื่องใช้ในบ้านที่ผู้หญิงต้องใช้งานในชีวิตประจำวันเพื่อล้อความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์กับเครื่องจักร และเปิดเผยร่างกายของแรงงานสตรีที่ถูกหลงลืมในโลกของเทคโนโลยีที่ก้าวล้ำนำหน้าไปอย่างรวดเร็ว กวิตามีผลงานแสดงเดี่ยวและกลุ่มหลายครั้ง โดยเฉพาะในปี พ.ศ. 2558 เธอได้รับรางวัลเข้ารอบสุดท้ายในรางวัล Jaguar Asia Pacific Tech Art Prize และได้รับการคัดเลือกให้เข้าร่วมนิทรรศการ Thailand Eye ที่ Saatchi Gallery ลอนดอน ประเทศอังกฤษ และได้รับการคัดสรรให้ร่วมใน Alamak! Pavilion ซึ่งเป็นนิทรรศการศิลปินหน้าใหม่ที่น่าจับตา ในมหกรรมศิลปะร่วมสมัยนานาชาติ เวนิส เบียนนาเล่ ครั้งที่ 57 ในปี พ.ศ. 2560 รวมถึงงาน Asia Triennale of Performing Arts ที่ Melbourne Arts Centre และได้ร่วมแสดงผลงานในเทศกาลศิลปะ Bangkok Art Biennale 2018 ในปี พ.ศ. 2561 เป็นต้น
Kawita Vattanachayangkul is a native of Bangkok, Thailand. She completed her undergraduate education from the RMIT University (BA in Fine Arts), Australia, in 2011. She is most widely known for her works in film and performance art, which uses her own body to imitate the workings of everyday household items that women are expected to use in everyday life, as a satirical commentary on the relationship between man and machine, while also highlighting the bodies of female labourers who are often forgotten in this age of rapid technological advancements. Kawita has also been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, most notably in 2015 when she was a finalist in the Jaguar Asia Pacific Tech Art Prize competition. She was also chosen to take part in the Thailand Eye exhibition at Saatchi Gallery in London, England, and had her works selected for the Alamak! Pavilion, a gathering of the most noteworthy young artists at the 57th international Venice Biennale in 2017. Her other achievements include the Triennale of Performing Arts at the Melbourne Arts Centre, and the Bangkok Art Biennale events in 2018.

กวิตา วัฒนะชยังกูร เป็นที่รู้จักจากงานวิดีโอสื่อแสดงสด ที่สะกดผู้ชมด้วยการแสดงอันพิสดารของเธอในฉากการถ่ายทำสีสดใส ผลงานของกวิตามักจะเป็นการสํารวจขีดจํากัดทางร่างกายและจิตผ่านการแสดง โดยในผลงานวิดีโอการแสดงชุดใหม่ของกวิตา ที่มีชื่อว่า “Air” เธอได้สร้างผลงานชื่อ Vacuum ที่ยังเป็นการใช้ร่างกายแทนสิ่งของอย่างต่อเนื่อง ผลงานชิ้นนี้กวิตาอยู่ในบทบาทคล้ายเครื่องดูดฝุ่นเพื่อจัดการกับสภาพอากาศเสีย ภายในวิดีโอ 4 จอของเธอเป็นการแสดงเพื่อการตีความถึงปอดที่กำลังทำงานสูบอากาศที่เต็มไปด้วยฝุ่นภายในโครงสร้างของพื้นที่เสมือนภายในบ้าน กับร่างกายที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นภาชนะ การตกแต่งภายในบ้านมีลักษณะคล้ายกับอวัยวะภายในอย่างปอดของมนุษย์ หรือกล่าวอีกนัยหนึ่งคือบ้านที่สร้างขึ้นนั้นก็คือร่างกายมนุษย์นั่นเอง ผลงานของเธอจึงแสดงให้เห็นความสัมพันธ์ในปัจจุบันที่เราจะต้องใช้ชีวิตอยู่ร่วมกับฝุ่นอย่างหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้
Kawita Vattanachayangkul is famous for her live video performances, which enchant viewers with her peculiar movements and colorful sets. Kawita’s works tend to examine the limits of the human body through the act of performing, and in her latest collection ‘Air’, she has produced a piece called ‘Vacuum’ which sees her continuously using her own body in place of various objects. In this particular piece, Kawita acts as a sort of vacuum cleaner meant to combat the issue of air pollution. The video, displayed simultaneously across 4 screens, is an interpretive performance that compares the human lungs to air purifiers that are inhaling air within a confined space resembling a house, which itself outwardly resembles a human body. The interior of the house is designed to look like the inside of the human body, which is a direct comparison between the human body and a house meant to communicate that we may no longer have a choice when it comes to breathing in these harmful dust particles.
